Hickeys is a large retail store in the coastal town of Opotiki in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, New Zealand - trusted by customers for 80 years.

How can I know that my payment details are confidential?

All electronic transactions are processed through the secure systems of the highly recognised online payment solutions provider DPS.

How do I know you have received my order?

You will receive a confirmation email when your order has been received. Once your payment has been cleared and your order leaves our store, you’ll receive another email advising the "trace and trace” details for your parcel.

When can I expect to receive my order?

Generally within a couple of working days depending on stock availability & where you live. Expect maybe an extra day or two for rural deliveries or public holidays.

What happens if my order does not arrive?

You can ‘track and trace’ your parcel at any stage through the courier website or contact us directly by email or phone if your parcel does not arrive within 5 working days.

What do I do if my parcel arrives damaged?

If the outer packaging is damaged or has been opened, check that the contents are intact. If any items are damaged or missing, do not accept delivery from courier and contact us immediately.

Can I exchange or return my order?

Yes, provided that happens within 7 days of you receiving the order and subject to conditions detailed elsewhere on this site. You will need to call us prior to any return. Extra courier charges apply.

What does "In stock with supplier” mean?

This means that our store is presently out of stock of this item, but product should be available again, usually within a few days, and if ordered, will be sent to you immediately it comes back into store.

What happens if a product I order is ‘out of stock’?

Our online store will not process a product classified as ‘out of stock’, unless it has been sold prior to picking. Do keep an eye on that product as it may come back into stock again soon.

Do you ship overseas addresses?

We only ship to New Zealand physical addresses using ‘signature required’ courier deliveries.

CLICK & COLLECT – Pay On Line & Pick Up In Store

  • Click and Collect is a FREE, convenient and an easy option for you to order at any time day and night.
  • Simply pay online then collect your item from our store during working hours.
  • At Checkout, please nominate the day, date & time you would like to collect your item and we’ll have it ready for you – we are happy to store your parcel for a period of time until you are ready to collect it.
  • The person collecting your purchase from our store will need to bring your Order Confirmation document as authorisation. For your security, we cannot release goods without this document which will require a signature at time of collection.


  • Hickeys Gift Vouchers may be purchased online. We are happy to courier them directly to any address nominated by yourself.
  • Gift vouchers can only be redeemed through our physical store. At this stage, they cannot be used for on line purchases.
  • Gift Voucher conditions: (a) Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue; (b) Lost vouchers will not be re-issued; (c) Vouchers may not be exchanged for cash; (d) Change may be given on a balance up to the value of $2.00.

DISCOUNT COUPONS – Free Dollars to Spend

  • From time to time, Hickeys run online Discount Coupon Promotions where you gain discount dollars on your purchase.
  • The Coupon will be despatched with your order and can be redeemed on your next on line purchase;
  • To redeem the coupon, simply enter the unique promotion code at Checkout and claim that dollar amount as your discount. Minimum purchase value will apply for each Discount Coupon Promotion;
  • Coupons can only be used once during each promotion and must be used before the expiry date (usually within 30 days). Redemption time cannot be extended;
  • Coupons cannot be redeemed for cash, nor can they be replaced if lost.


  • Every attempt is made to ensure stock availability detail is correct at time of order.
  • However, because both our online and physical stores share the same database, it is possible that occasionally an item shown as "In Stock” at time of order may in fact not be available at the time of picking as it may have been sold through our physical store during that interval. In that event, we will advise you by email of your options. They include (i) wait for item to come back into stock, (ii) chose another item, (iii) refund the purchase price or (iv) other option of your choice.
  • Understanding our ‘Stock Availability” Status:
    1. ‘In Stock’ – item is immediately available from our store and ready to ship (unless sold prior to picking).
    2. ‘In Stock with Supplier’ - awaiting new stock to arrive from supplier, or available as special order. Expect an extra 2-3 days delivery depending on where our supplier is located.
    3. ‘Display Only’ – these items cannot be ordered online, or are not immediately available. By contacting us we can give you more accurate information on expected availability, other size/colour options, or other considerations.

RESTRICTED ITEMS – Pick up from Store only.

  • Due to a number of government regulations or other considerations, certain items cannot be shipped by courier. These items fall into three general categories:
    1. Dangerous or Inflammable Goods : e.g. cylinders containing propane, butane or certain other propellant gases;
    2. Age Restricted or Licence Required Items : e.g. firearms, air rifles, ammunition, bows, slingshots;
    For all firearms & ammunition purchases we must physically sight your current firearms licence.
    3. Fragile or Extra Heavy Items : e.g. Cast iron cookware, Clay Targets, Steel Gun Cabinets, Punching & Kick Bags.
    Payment for most of these items can be made online but collection from our store is subject to proof of authorisation (copy of order confirmation or invoice), and where applicable, proof of age for age restricted items.
